Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has recorded a double digit growth of 13.2 per cent in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the corresponding quarter last year.
MBM has sold a total of 3,335 units in Q1 2018 with 1,200 sold in January, an impressive jump by 32 per cent compared to January 2017.
President and chief executive officer Dr Claus Weidner said this is an exceptional start to the year and attributed the success to its strategy of focusing on customers and their needs.
MBM’s market share also saw a rise by 0.5 per cent with 2.8 per cent in Q1 2018 and 2.3 per cent in Q1 2017.
“We are delighted with our positive performance in the first quarter of 2018 as our long-term strategy of bringing customers close and keeping them at the centre of our activities continues to deliver results.
“Working hand-in- hand with our extensive dealer network throughout Malaysia, we remain attentive to our customers’ preferences and needs,” said Weidner.
The Mercedes-Benz SUV range remained a growth driver with 675 units sold, which translated into a 13.6 per cent jump compared to the same period last year.
In addition, MBM’s locally produced limousines and the compact vehicles recorded a 1,975 and 596 units sold with 8 per cent and 37.3 per cent increase respectively.
Matching their positive sales performance with an increase of 18 per cent in after sales care, MBM’s dealer network has serviced a total of over 36,000 vehicles in Q1 2018.
Mercedes-Benz Service Malaysia (MBSM) has also registered a servicing portfolio totalling over RM 2.4 billion in Q1 2018.
