Malaysia Major Events (MME), a division of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia organised its annual Malaysia Major Events Symposium 2017 (MME Symposium) by bringing in all key industrial players under one platform to discuss current issues on sports, arts, lifestyle and entertainment at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. 
Themed “We Make It Happen”, the symposium focused on accelerating the growth of the events industry in Malaysia by combining inspirational ideas, innovative technology and bold actions to maximise the Malaysia experience. The symposium also highlighted the importance of major events industry by offering each individual sector a place of its own for delegates to further delve, deliberate and decide how the content will affect their business and the industry as a whole. 
	   
	  	  	  
	  
	  	
MME Symposium 2017 was graced by the Deputy Secretary General (Management), Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, YBhg. Dato’ Yean Yoke Heng, who read the speech on behalf of the Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, YBhg. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Tan Sri Abdul Aziz. Vice President of Olympic Council of Malaysia, YBhg. Dato’ MOhd Nazifuddin Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib, and Chairman of IFPI Asia-Pacific Regional Board, YBhg. Dato’ Norman Abdul Halim, were also present to discuss on the future trends of sport cities and music cities, as well as providing a conducive business environment to stimulate the growth of the major events industry. 
Deputy Secretary General (Management), Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, YBhg. Dato’ Yean Yoke Heng, said on behalf of YBhg. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri, “For the past six years, Malaysia Major Events has successfully contributed an estimated RM3.1 billion in tourist expenditure where 25% went to entertainment and F&B, 30% to hotel and accommodation, 30% to retail and 15% to other revenues such as transport, tours and etc. MME is certainly putting the country on track with the government’s aspirations under the NKEA to position Malaysia as an ideal major events destination in the region to complement the target of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in achieving 36 million tourist arrivals by 2020. Together, local government bodies, event organisers, event venue, management companies, service suppliers and event marketing companies must identify and grasp new opportunities to enhance the tourism sector and work with MME in helping Malaysia and to be on par with other countries.” 
General Manager of Malaysia Major Events, Tony Nagamaiah said “To continue our effort to draw more international tourists into our country, MME Symposium is especially designed to gather the local government bodies, event organisers, event venue, management companies, service suppliers and event marketing companies in a singular platform where we can exchange ideas and share best practices, as well as further collaborate for future events. We hope these exciting sessions with an array of distinguished panellists and speakers will inspire the industry players to be the catalyst for transformation that the event industry need in order to stay dynamic and innovative.”
The range of speakers covered a cohesive set of topics such as ESports: Understandind the Opportunities of the 21st Century Entertainment, More than Barricades, among others, as well as discussing new ideas, event execution techniques, market trends, issues and challenges facing the events industry, providing and honest dialogue on the impact of major events that will help push the events industry forward.
