DKSH Business Unit Performance Materials, an ingredients distributor and provider of Market Expansion Services, jointly hosted its regional food and nutrition seminar with Wacker, German food ingredient and solution provider.
Wacker also officially introduced its latest innovations the Cavacurmin and HTEssence ingredients to representatives of the nutrition food and nutraceutical industries, as well as public opinion leaders, in Malaysia.
This was the first joint event in Malaysia with WACKER, focusing on health and nutritional issues that are becoming increasingly relevant in Asia.
“Thanks to Wacker’s patented multistage synthesis method, a cost-effective process for manufacturing a highly purified form of the natural identical hydroxytyrosol, which was marketed under the name HTEssence, is now available in the market.
“It revolutionises the way this antioxidant is being produced and supplied to manufacturers of nutritional supplements and skincare cosmetics.
“We are also very pleased to have Dr. Kalpana Bhaskaran, one of the most distinguished experts in Glycemic Index Research, as a key seminar speaker and are grateful for the strong support of our distribution partner DKSH in organizing such a successful event today,” said Wacker’s Food and Nutrition team, West Asia, head, Dr. Tieh Koun Koh.
DKSH Performance Materials Malaysia and Singapore, general manager, Carol Tan said: “Over the course of our six-year partnership with Wacker, we have leveraged our in-depth knowledge of the local market as well as our extensive distribution network to expand customer coverage and effectively accelerate growth for this leading German group in Malaysia.
“This seminar is the first of its kind in Malaysia with WACKER, which brings our valued business partner closer to customers for greater engagement,” she added.
Besides Dr. Tieh Koun Koh, key speakers also included Dr. Kalpana Bhaskaran, vice president of Diabetic Society of Singapore and Dr. Zhang Yan, technical manager of WACKER’s Food and Nutrition team, West Asia.
The key speakers engaged participants in discussions on ingredients that are used for weight management, taste masking, diabetes management and low glycemic index purposes, cholesterol management as well as in skin-lightening applications.
Approximately 50 industry representatives and public opinion leaders attended the event.
