Besides having serious implications for people’s health, COVID-19 is significantly impacting businesses and the economy. The Covid-19 pandemic has been, to say the least, grim for business.
Many are rapidly adjusting to the changing needs of their people, their customers and suppliers, while navigating the financial and operational challenges.
But during this upheaval, some companies been thriving and of them is realme, a technology brand that specialises in providing high-quality tech products and service with Dare-to-Leap experience.
According to global smartphone analysis in Q1 2020 released by Canalys, realme Malaysia has entered the Top Smartphone Vendors as Top 4 in Malaysia surpassing Xiaomi. In addition, the YoY growth of realme Malaysia reaches 406% making it the fastest growing smartphone vendor in Malaysia.
realme Malaysia also recorded the highest YoY growth in the Southeast Asia market compared to other brands in its neighbouring countries like Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines and Thailand for Q1 2020.
Mr Hunter Wang, Chief Executive Officer of realme Malaysia, says that realme believes that understanding their customers and fans is the number one most important point in ensuring realme continuously breaking records and achieving such growth.
“Our business strategies are really straight-forward, understanding our consumers and receiving feedback from our users.”
“We understand how consumers are closely related to realme as we’re a young and trendy brand. realme is committed to offering leap forward devices that have both strong performance and trendy designs so that young people in Malaysia can experience both ‘technology’ and 'beauty’,” he explains.
Wang shares that realme Malaysia is glad to be working with two leading e-commerce platforms Lazada and Shopee as they’ve been a great help especially during this period of time.
“We believe that the economy will slowly increase into a much healthier state as many companies have started improvising their business strategies and we hope everyone continues to stay safe.”
Moving forward, Wang says they are aiming at being the Tech Trendsetter brand for all their customers and fans around the world and this goes the same for Malaysia.
He adds that realme will continuously focus on young users. This year, realme will follow the “realme 1+1: Smartphone + Artificial Intelligence of Things AIoT” strategy and endow products with more attributes of trendsetting design to create smart trendsetting lifestyle for their younger customers and fans.
According to Wang, realme has a precise insight into the needs of its young users and is committed to becoming “the first choice for young people in all regions of the world” by providing products for the young that are outfitted with performance, quality and design that are beyond expectation.
“We optimize products and launch localised products tailored to the needs of local young users in Malaysia. By applying mature technology to lower price segments, we set sales records again and again and became a benchmark of outstanding performance and fashionable design based on the needs of the market and customers. realme has also won wide recognition from media and consumers in the Southeast Asia region,’ he points out.
As a flourishing company, realme believes that everyone who dare to leap will create a change to the world. The younger generation who has adopted the spirit of “Dare to Leap” usually are the ones who break those boring rules which eventually lead to better innovation and progress.
“We will be the game changer of the smartphone industry and the pioneer in trendy technology with our Dare to Leap spirit,” Wang adds, stressing that a future is where smartphones and AIoT go hand in hand.
Wang says that Malaysians can also expect more AIoT products will be unveiled this year to progressively form the ecology of realme AIoT.
According to the analysis of Counterpoint Research Monthly Market Pulse Feb 2020, realme, the world's fastest-growing smartphone brand, continuously ranks Top 7 with a market share of 2.7%, maintaining its previous global rankings and proving to be one of the mainstream smartphone brands.
Despite the negative impact on the global smartphone market in February, with global smartphone sales show resilience with a 14% decline, realme has been growing steadily in the global smartphone market thanks to its “Dare to Leap” technology power and its "asset-light, short-channel, and e-commerce" business model, successfully has a place in the global smartphone market.
