Southeast Asia's leading All-in-one Business, Cloud, Digital and Ecommerce Solutions Provider, Exabytes Group, proudly announced the continuation of its Let’s Plant A Tree campaign for the second year running, following the previous year’s success. In collaboration with Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP), EasyParcel and Jabatan Perhutanan Pulau Pinang, this year’s campaign is set out to further enhance its environmental impact by planting a grand total of 3,330 trees in the serene region of Balik Pulau as part of a collaborative ESG initiative.
The inaugural Let’s Plant A Tree campaign that was launched in April 2022 was a brainchild of Exabytes created with the objective to preserve the planet's biodiversity and address the ecological challenges that we face today such as forest degradation. This year's endeavour saw an increase in the collaborative impact, with 1,000 of the total trees planted being collaboratively contributed by Exabytes and the campaign's co-sponsor, EasyParcel, Southeast Asia’s No. 1 online booking platform for parcel delivery. By collaborating with EasyParcel, a reputable player in the industry, the campaign aims to create a lasting positive impact on the environment while inspiring others to join the cause.
This year’s campaign launch event that was commemorated near Pantai Malindo at Balik Pulau saw participation from 32 Exabytes’ employees and 12 EasyParcel representatives and volunteers.
“The Let's Plant A Tree campaign is a testament to Exabytes' unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability. By planting more trees, we all can do our part to contribute to the overall global reforestation efforts, rebuilding damaged ecosystems, recovering lost forests, and mitigating the effects of climate change. We are immensely proud of the success of last year's campaign, and this year, with the support of our partners and clients, we hope to double our efforts in making a positive impact on the environment. We employ the hashtag #LetsPlantATree as a movement calling on everyone to unite and work together to rebuild the balance in the ecosystem. Together, we hope to inspire other organisations and individuals to prioritise sustainable practices and contribute to a greener future,” said Chan Kee Siak, Founder & CEO of Exabytes Group.
In Malaysia, there have been an alarming number of incidents involving natural disasters that pinpointed deforestation as being the root cause. Among some of those incidents include the massive flood in 2021 that hit several states around the country and even one that caused a high number of catastrophic landslides. This shows that it is becoming more crucial to focus on initiatives that can contribute to the restoration of the ecosystem.
“With the alarmingly increasing rate of deforestation activities being reported everywhere including in Malaysia, it is crucial now more than ever to take part in any efforts that could lead to the restoration of the environment to its former glory. Therefore, EasyParcel appreciates the opportunity that Exabytes have presented for us to express our commitment to also do our part to help with the environment,” said Clarence Leong, Chief Executive Officer of EasyParcel.
Exabytes is calling out to its clients and public to be a part of this initiative by pledging RM10 to have a tree planted on their behalf.
