KLIFF 2017: Dr Ahmad Mohamed Ali Al Madani receives Lifetime Leadership Award in Islamic Finance

The founding president of Islamic Development Bank Tan Sr Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali Al Madani has been bestowed with the Lifetime Leadership Award in Islamic Finance this year during the 2017 KLIFF Awards Dinner recently.

The 83-year old distinguished banker received his award from the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir.

KLFF 2017: Islamic Banking Must Strive To Be The Best

Islamic banking and finance industry must be robust and resilient and should continuously reposition itself, if it desires the respect an recognition from the rest of the world, said Deputy Finance Minister 1 Datuk Wira Othman Aziz.

“It should continuously strive to be the best banking system in order to attract the public, Muslims and non-Muslins alike,” he added.

SC Promotes IOSCO’s World Investor Week 

The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) launched its first World Investor Week (WIW) on 2nd – 8th October 2017 to promote greater investor education and protection worldwide. Throughout the week, securities regulators from more than 80 countries across the globe are providing a variety of activities to increase the awareness of investor education and protection in their own jurisdictions. 

Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) in support of WIW is carrying out two initiatives. In order to raise awareness on the increased number of reported scams and illegal investment schemes, SC is screening an anti-scam awareness video called ‘T.I.P.U video’ at selected TGV cinemas nationwide from now until 11 October 2017.

Honeywell, a Fortune 100 diversified global technology and manufacturing leader, is strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia by establishing a new ASEAN regional headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
