Two leading accountancy bodies, ACCA (As sociation of Chartered Certified Accountants) and MICPA (The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants) have renewed an agreement that supports both parties’ commitment to develop and strengthen the accountancy profession in Malaysia.
The Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), which was originally signed by both premier accountancy bodies in August 2007, will now run for a further five years until 2022.
Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and The International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) today released a joint publication on ‘Ṣukuk: Principles & Practices’ launched by Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, The Sultan Perak, at the Kuala Lumpur Islamic Finance Forum 2017 in Kuala Lumpur.
This is the second publication under the collaboration between SC and ISRA, following the success of previous joint publication, ‘Islamic Capital Markets: Principles & Practices’ in 2015. The SC and Khazanah Nasional Berhad are co-sponsors of these two initiatives.
The Islamic banking industry needs to improve profitability and attract more investment as it ventures into new markets, said Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah, The Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan at the opening ceremony of 14th Kuala Lumpur Islamic Finance Forum 2017 (KLIFF 2017) this morning.
In addition, the Sultan said, the industry today needs to maintain high standards of loan quality and corporate governance. Also, he added that the Islamic capital markets need to grow at a faster pace so that there is not an undue reliance on Islamic Banking alone.

The Leadership Council comprises eminent experts on sustainable development from academia, business, civil society, and the public sector from across the globe and oversees the work of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, including advancing the 17 sustainable development goals on a global scale.
