Exact Holds Global Hackathon to Develop Tomorrow’s Technology 

 

Smart entrepreneurship, social community and big data were the key topics driving the Exact Hackathon held at the Exact Asia Development Centre (ADC) recently, bringing together eight teams of students from six institutions of higher learning in Malaysia and with the support of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

Held from 13 to 15 September 2017, the challenge which involved 48 hours of continuous hacking, was part of the second annual Exact Global Hackathon that took place simultaneously in five different locations (Delft, Dublin, Kiev, Kuala Lumpur and Minneapolis) around the world.

CIMB ASEAN Stock Challenge 2.0 introduces mobile trading and predictive data analytics 

CIMB Group announced that the CIMB ASEAN Stock Challenge has returned for the eighth year for undergraduate teams from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia and Brunei, which is a new country added for this year. 

The competition would challenge students to demonstrate their investment and analytical skills by trading with US$80,000 of virtual start-up capital across five major stock exchanges in the region i.e. Bursa Malaysia, Indonesia Stock Exchange, Singapore Exchange, the Stock Exchange of Thailand and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The Regional Champion will be crowned at the Grand Finale, to be held at the Indonesia Stock Exchange in Jakarta. A total of US$40,000 in prize money will be awarded to the winners of the National and Regional Rounds of the competition. The Regional Champion team will also be awarded a study trip to the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Malaysia shared experience in facilitating Malaysian SMEs 

Malaysia shared the experience in facilitating Malaysian SMEs during the 24th APEC Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Ministerial Meeting. The meeting takes place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 10-15 September, with the theme “Strengthening MSMEs Competitiveness and Innovation in the Digital Age”. Twenty one Ministers of APEC member economies participated in the meeting. Malaysian delegation is led by YB Datuk Chua Tee Yong, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Malaysia. 

During the meeting, YB Datuk Chua Tee Yong presented a paper on “Riding the Wave of Change: Growing Beyond Borders”, which covers the emergence of megatrends, its direct and far-reaching impact on SMEs, as well as challenges that should be overcome by SMEs.

Performics wins Google Malaysia’s ‘Agency Quiz Night’ 2017

Kuala Lumpur, September 15, 2017: Google Malaysia recently held its second Agency Quiz Night which saw Performics emerging as the grand prize winner. The marketing agency took the top spot on the scoreboard, granting them the winner’s trophy, bragging rights and substantial Google schwag. Following very closely behind were content agency Mediacom and marketing agency Omnicom, who fought hard for second and third place, respectively.
