Scania Malaysia has been recognised for its record on sustainability in transportation, especially in the area of safety, by the Malaysia Digital Chamber of Commerce (MDCC) and Asia Pacific CSR Council.

The award for Excellence in Commercial Trucking Safety was presented to Scania Malaysia by the Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai at the recent Sustainable Urban Transport Malaysia Awards 2017 that was held in conjunction with the Sustainable Urban Transport Summit 2017.

A new impact study released yesterday by the International Trademark Association (INTA) reports that industries which intensively use trademarks contribute significantly to five major economies in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. 

Analysis from The Economic Contribution of Trademark-Intensive Industries in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand indicates that trademark-intensive activities generate increased employment across sectors and added contributions to international trade. 

As China’s demand for Malaysian goods grows steadily, Malaysia trades with renewed vigour to make good of this favourable situation. The two countries have enjoyed healthy trade ties and the aim of achieving US$160 billion in bilateral ties by this year has further magnified all business endeavours.

China’s “One Belt, One Road” development programme had led to firm collaborations on numerous planes and where the timber industry is concerned China is the eighth largest market for Malaysian timber and timber products.

The Economic Ministers of ASEAN and Hong Kong, China (HKC) announced the conclusion of the ASEAN-HKC Free Trade Agreement (AHKFTA) and the ASEAN-HKC Investment Agreement (AHKIA) at the Second ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM)-HKC Consultations held on 9 September 2017 in Pasay City, the Philippines. 

The negotiations for the AHKFTA and AHKIA commenced in July 2014 after the endorsement of the Terms of Reference for the ASEAN-HKC Trade Negotiation Committee (AHKTNC) and the Scope and Arrangements for the AHKFTA negotiations at the Second ASEAN Senior Economic Officials’ Meeting (SEOM)-HKC Consultations in April 2014.
