Kuala Lumpur, 10 July 2020 – Valyou, Malaysia’s first wallet-to-wallet remittance service provider in partnership with eSewa Money Transfer (eSewa) has launched the very first Malaysia to Nepal wallet-to-wallet money remittance service. Nepalese in Malaysia can now instantly and directly send money into the eSewa wallet in Nepal at a RM0* fee or any Nepali bank account.
“At Valyou, we are on a mission to empower migrant workers by promoting greater financial inclusion through convenient and simple digital remittance services. We are excited to partner eSewa on this initiative as we are now able to expand our digital financial services to serve the underbanked and unbanked Nepalese residing here,” said Prasanna Rao, Chief Executive Office, Valyou Sdn Bhd.
“Malaysia is home to nearly 300,000 Nepalese who largely work in the manufacturing and the security services sectors, representing a large economic migrant segment here. Working together with eSewa, we are delighted to be able to offer them convenience and peace of mind by enabling them to send their hard-earned money instantly and securely to their loved ones back at home,” added Prasanna.
Valyou is a leader in the International Remittance Mobile Wallet space with a large network of over 1,000 Cash In Cash Out merchants across Malaysia and eSewa is Nepal’s largest e-Wallet with over 3.2 million users. Valyou users can Cash In to their e-Wallet accounts while eSewa wallet users can Cash Out the amount sent in any of the 6,000+ Cash Payout Merchants or transfer the amounts via interbank payment to more than 50 banks in the eSewa wallet.
While this remittance service mostly focuses on wallet-to-wallet transfer between the two countries, “Instant Bank Deposit” and “Cash Pickup” services are also available. Money received in eSewa wallet can be used to make payment to all major utilities like NTC & Ncell top up, DTH, Electricity, Water, Internet; over 2,000 billers such as school fees, insurance, credit card bills, air ticket, major online grocery food items, restaurants, movie, games and 130,000 scan to pay merchants and much more.
“Amidst the global Coronavirus pandemic, digitisation of the remittance industry has become a much-needed facility in the context of Nepal. Our partnership with Valyou has allowed us to pioneer international wallet transfer service between Malaysia and Nepal. This provides ease for both, senders and receivers, especially in times of such where people are encouraged to stay at home as much as possible. We are now able to offer Nepalese living here, and in Malaysia money remittance services in an easy and affordable manner, right into their eSewa wallets or bank accounts,” said Ajesh Koirala, Managing Director of eSewa Money Transfer.
“We have already established a partnership in Malaysia, and in Japan, and hope to expand our services to other countries soon,” he added.
eSewa is Valyou’s fifth wallet-to-wallet international remittance service integration. In 2017, Valyou pioneered wallet-to-wallet transfer through a collaboration with Easypaisa, enabling Pakistanis in Malaysia to send money back home. While in 2018, popular Bangladeshi wallets Bkash and Rocket, and Cambodian wallet Wing were added to the Valyou list of partners.
“We have certainly come a long way since we first started our wallet-to-wallet remittance service in 2017, and today, in just under three years, we have connected to all the popular e-Wallet in major corridors served from Malaysia. We look forward to more strategic partnerships such as this to continue offering accessibility, convenience and security to the large migrant segment here in Malaysia to send money back home and much more,” added Prasanna.
