SDB'S Completes The Hub

The Hub in SS2, a commercial development in SS2 Petaling Jaya by developer Selangor Dredging Berhad (SDB), was recently completed and handed over to purchasers.

It is located along the newly-opened Jalan Harapan which has now linked SS2 and its neighbouring residential areas to the SPRINT Expressway near 3 Damansara (previously Tropicana Mall).

Sime Darby Plantation Bhd (SDP) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today at the China World Summit Wing in Beijing, China with China’s leading state-owned enterprise and supplier of oils and grains, COFCO Group Co. Ltd. (COFCO) to establish new cooperation on downstream applications of palm oil and its related products.

The MoU was signed by Sime Darby Plantation Executive Deputy Chairman & Managing Director Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh and COFCO Chief Executive Officer Patrick Yu, witnessed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, during his five-day visit to China.

PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG) recently launched 10 new brands for its existing and upcoming isononanol, polymer and shale inhibitor products to further strengthen its position as a regional market leader.

Customers of Hong Leong Bank Bhd can start binding their debit cards to WeChat Wallet and use WeChat Pay as an alternative payment option, joining the giant mobile payment’s 900 million active monthly users worldwide.

HLB is also one of the first banks in Malaysia to be approved as Tencent’s local WeChat Pay Master Merchant Acquirer, enabling merchants and individual users to transact with WeChat Pay for the first time in Malaysia in Ringgit Malaysia, paving the way for Malaysia to be the first country, outside of China and Hong Kong, to be able to make payments in the local currency.

AMMB Holdings Bhd registered a higher income of RM1,014 million, up 3.2% supported by higher net interest income (NII) (+4.7%). Net interest margin (NIM) stable at 2.02% in the first quarter ended 30 June 2018 (Q1FY19).

Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir, AmBank Group Chief Executive Officer said, “After a year of putting in place a series of fundamental changes, we have today a solid platform to grow further, as our Q1FY19 results point to a reasonable start to the new fiscal year. Our Q1FY19 income growth was broad based. NIM remained stable at 2.02%.”

Prudential launches PRUcancer X

Cancer is a growing health concern worldwide with statistics by the World Health Organisation (WHO) indicating it to be the second-leading cause of death globally.

In Malaysia, one in four people are expected to develop cancer by the age of 75, according to the Ministry of Health. While the probability of developing cancer has increased substantially, the cost of treatment has also risen significantly in recent years.

TRX City Sdn Bhd, the master developer of the upcoming international financial district Tun Razak Exchange, announced today that it is awarding Gadang Engineering (M) Bhd a RM86.086 million contracts for its public realm infrastructure work.

The contract covers the structural work as well as hardscape and softscape for the North-West Plaza, which is TRX pedestrian entrance from Bukit Bintang, and the North East Plaza, also known as the Tun Razak Exchange MRT Plaza.

TEKAM (Malaysian Association Of Suppliers And Employees Management Of Foreign Workers) would like to partner the government in finding a solution and supplement its efforts in the recruitment of foreign workers into the country.

President of TEKAM Datuk Megat Fairouz Junaidi Tan Sri Megat Junid in welcoming the Government’s announcement on the setting up of a single system to hire foreign workers without differentiating the source countries he said: “We are eager to look and join at the new system. We welcome the plan and we are prepared to make it successful from the point of entry to the point of exit of such legal and trained foreign workers.”
