Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; 13 December 2019 – Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur recently organised “Bin It to Win It” challenge to create awareness on repurposing used fabrics. This is in line with the hospitality group - Sunway Hotels & Resorts’ partnership with Kloth Cares, a Malaysian social entrepreneurship movement dedicated to keep fabrics out of landfills through rethinking, reusing, reducing, repurposing and recycling unwanted fabrics.

The partnership with Kloth Cares involves a permanent Kloth Cares bin placed in the hotel for its employees to recycle their used linen, clothes and soft toys which are then collected on a monthly basis by Kloth Cares. Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur’s challenge which ran from 6 – 13 November 2019 is aimed at encouraging its employees to recycle their used fabrics and apply the function of the Kloth Cares bin. During the two-week challenge, the Hotel has successfully collected more than 500 kg of linens and old textiles.

Stuttgart/Los Angeles. Designers from Porsche AG and Lucasfilm Ltd. have joined forces to develop a fantasy starship that brings together the design DNA of the two brands. Over a period of two months, the project team worked together at their respective design studios in Weissach and San Francisco to create initial ideas and drafts before finally coming up with a concrete concept. The fantasy starship, named Tri- Wing S-91x Pegasus Starfighter, will be presented as a detailed model measuring 1.5 metres (5 feet) in length at the December film premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in Los Angeles.

AMNIMO SENSE MAKING IIOT EASIER

In May 2018, Yokogawa Electric Corporation announced the launch of amnimo Inc., a business unit that will be tasked with identifying, developing, and offering services that can add value by leveraging the industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) architecture which is currently under development by Yokogawa.

amnimo Inc. aims to identify, develop, and deliver IIoT architecture-based solutions which is one of the measures that Yokogawa is taking under its new Transformation 2020 mid-term business plan.

Kuala Lumpur, 28 November 2019 – CapitaLand’s wholly-owned lodging business unit, The Ascott Limited (Ascott), has secured a contract to manage its first Ascott-branded serviced residence in Penang. Ascott was awarded the contract by Plenitude Berhad, a Bursa Malaysia-listed conglomerate, with core interests in property development, property investment and property management. The 250-unit Ascott Gurney Penang is scheduled to open in the last quarter of 2021.

KUALA LUMPUR, 28 November 2019 – Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Muamalat) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wahed Invest Malaysia  on collaboration to promote WAHED INVEST’s product and services on Bank Muamalat’s distribution channels to the customers.

SUBANG JAYA, 27 November 2019 – Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) announced that AXA AFFIN Life Insurance (AXA AFFIN) has selected Omni Hotline as its preferred virtual office phone provider, as part of its effort to become a more digital and agile workforce.

AXA AFFIN is using Omni Hotline to power over 150 office phone extensions for employees who are now empowered with the freedom to use their own mobile phones for work calls. With this move to Omni Hotline, AXA AFFIN has migrated from physical desk phones and complex on-site PABX hardware to a more flexible virtual office phone system.

Hamburg, 20 November 2019 – AirAsia has received its first A321neo aircraft during a delivery ceremony in Hamburg, Germany. The aircraft delivered is the first of 353 A321neos ordered by the airline. 

The A321neo will enable AirAsia to offer higher capacity in response to ongoing strong demand across its network as well as to open up new routes with the highest levels of efficiency. AirAsia will initially operate the aircraft from its Kuala Lumpur hub to cities across Asia, with the first destinations including Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Singapore, Bangkok and Shenzhen.

Kuala Lumpur – 26 November 2019 – A new report by Avis Budget Group, a leading global provider of mobility solutions, revealed that while the car’s popularity will stay strong in the upcoming mobility shift, attitudes towards car ownership will change significantly. Almost all (97%) of residents in Malaysia surveyed think that owning a car is important and 67% still see the car as the ideal mode of transport. However, more than half (51%) said that they would consider giving up car ownership and rely on long-term car rental if it was convenient and easy for them.

The report, titled The Road Ahead: The Future of Mobility, examined the way in which the mobility landscape is changing around the world, how it is likely to look in the future and, how people in different countries view these changes.
