Kuala Lumpur, 1 November, Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) and Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading everyday app, announced a landmark collaboration that will make GrabPay the first e-Wallet to adopt DuitNow QR, Malaysia’s National QR Standard. 

DuitNow QR is established under Bank Negara Malaysia’s Interoperable Credit Transfer Framework (ICTF). ICTF mandates that PayNet, as the country’s shared payment infrastructure provider, implement an interoperable and common QR standard for Malaysia.  Four Banks are already offering DuitNow QR in their mobile banking apps, with 25 Banks expected to implement DuitNow QR over the next six months.

ZEEPod is an offshore platform built to extract oil and gas that makes the development of marginal oil and gas fields in Malaysia possible by offering a technically sound, and economically viable solution. For such developments to be commercially attractive, the solution must be low in Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and with nil or negligible Operating Expenses (OPEX). The fit-for-purpose ZEEPod design offers an ideal solution for such developments, which improves both business and operating efficiency. 

The first ZEEPod was installed and commissioned in July 2019 for Vestigo Petroleum Sdn Bhd (Vestigo), a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), in the development of the Tembikai Non-Associated Gas (TNAG) facilities. The project was awarded to Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Berhad (MMHE) for the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) of TNAG. Vestigo was incorporated by Petronas for the development of marginal oil fields in Malaysia and their global operations.

Kuala Lumpur, 31 October 2019 – FWD Takaful Berhad (formerly known as HSBC Amanah Takaful (Malaysia) Berhad) (“FWD Takaful”) today signed a collaboration agreement with ISRA Consultancy Sdn. Bhd. (“ICSB”) for a collaboration to invest RM1 million in research, feasibility studies, and development of a user-friendly booklet to explain Takaful in simpler terms.

The collaboration will also include an in-depth feasibility study and research, with the aim of establishing Shariah-compliant Micro Family Takaful plans for individuals in the low to middle level income category in Malaysia.

Sunway City, Oct 25 2019 ~ Master Community Developer, Sunway Property today signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement to acquire a parcel of freehold land measuring 3.69 acres in Wangsa Maju for a proposed residential development.

The land was acquired by Sunway’s 55% owned subsidiary, Sunway Avila Sdn Bhd, for RM36.97 million. The proposed development on the land comprises 468 condominium units with a potential gross development value (“GDV”) of approximately RM300 million.

Kuala Lumpur, 25 October 2019 – Labuan International Business and Financial Centre Incorporated (Labuan IBFC Inc), the market development agency for Labuan International Business and Financial Centre (Labuan IBFC), and China Construction Bank Corporation Labuan Branch (CCBL), a branch of China Construction Bank Corporation, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to allow CCBL to promote the benefits of Labuan IBFC to Chinese and Chinese related companies, in addition to supporting the advancement of FinTech development in the jurisdiction.

SPARK-ING CHANGE AT SUNGAI WAY

SELANGOR, 22 OCTOBER 2019 – SPARK Foundation, in collaboration with the Global Environment Centre (GEC) celebrated World Rivers Day through a river clean-up session with the local communities.

Together with the GEC, SPARK Foundation teamed up with more than 50 volunteers and local communities from Sungai Penchala river basin including Friends of Sungai Penchala, Sahabat Komuniti Sungei Way, Joint Management Board Blok 1 Desa Mentari, Sahabat Hijau Blok 1, and Indah Water Konsortium Shah Alam (IWK), successfully cleaning-up 400 metres of the river. Resulting from the river clean–up effort, 385kg of rubbish in which 273kg of wet waste and 112kg of recyclables were collected during the three-hour session.
